...having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.
Probably one of the most frustrating things in life is reconciling a bank statement. Usually it is an error in addition, or a missing receipt. Until that missing piece of the puzzle can be identified and corrected we are left in agony. The amazing thing is that just one penny off and you are not reconciled. It does not matter the amount, unreconciled is unreconciled. We too are irreconcilable to God as sinners. The minimal amount of our sin does not regard us any different than the vilest of sinners. as we see in Romans, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We are all unreconciled. However, Jesus Christ abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is the law of commandments that we have broken, thus making peace. So we are reconciled to God through the cross. Praise God today that Jesus made a way for you to come into agreement with His holy law, in spite of your wicked ways.
